Collision Repair Tip #3: How to Protect Your Car's Paint Job

Many thanks to our friends at Auto Craft Collision Repair in Tulsa, Oklahoma for these tips on keeping your vehicle snazzy.
It’s pretty easy to keep your car beautiful. Here are a few quick tips to make sure your ride stays as gorgeous as the day you bought it …
  • Wash your vehicle regularly. Dust builds up pretty quickly, and once it gets ground in, washing is more likely to scratch your paint., so it’s best to wash your ride before it gets really dirty. Use a detergent that’s made for washing cars. These are formulated to remove dirt without necessarily removing the wax.
  • Buy some touch-up paint in your car’s color to repair scratches as soon as you see them. Sealing it sooner, rather than later, does a great job of keeping it under control.
  • Park under cover or in shaded areas to protect your paint from the damaging rays of the sun. A car port or garage is a no-brainer, if you have it, as it protects your ride from hail and other unfriendly weather.
  • Give your vehicle a new wax job every two months. It’s actually very satisfying process to bring the shine to a beautiful luster, and it will protect against everything from bird deposits to corrosive pollutants in the air. Use a paste-type wax. Liquid wax is easier, but doesn’t last as long.
